“Benji” was born and raised in Switzerland. After racing professionally in Europe (both on the road and on the track) for a couple of years, he decided it was time to focus on his education. He moved to the United States in early 2009, mainly to improve his English. The Metro Volkswagen Cycling Team gave him the opportunity to focus on his education while still being able to race at a high level. Career highlights include a 3rd place at the Swiss Road Race Championships in 2005, a 1st place at the Six Days in Mexico (day 3) in 2006 and a 1st place at the Six Days in Munich (day 1) in 2007. In 2008 Benji finished 1st at the Six Days in Munich (day 5), 22nd at the Swiss Elite Road Championships and 5th place at Züri-Metzgete.
